Who I Am Now & Who I Hope to Be
Who I Am Now
I'm Logan Silvers, a Computer Programming BA student at Columbia College Chicago with a genuine passion for where code meets creativity and education. My world currently revolves around:
- Learning the craft: Immersed in web development and creative coding classes, building projects that blend functionality with artistic expression
- Community builder: Active in campus clubs and founder of Columbia's Web Dev Club where we transform creativity into "interactive magic" through themed coding sessions
- Pattern seeker: Fascinated by connections and patterns in everything from zodiac signs (Scorpio sun, Virgo rising, Cancer moon) to coding structures
- Independent worker: Currently balancing studies with a job as a fishmonger at Hagen's Fish Market in Portage Park
- Digital creator: Crafting personal websites that reflect my quirky, star-loving personality with ASCII art, blinkies, and sideways-scrolling designs
- Casual gamer: Finding joy in games like Balatro, Bloons TD 6, Cookie Clicker, Animal Crossing, and Stardew Valley
Who I Hope to Be
Looking toward my future self, I dream of becoming:
- An innovative educator: Teaching young children about technology and creativity in "a cool fun Minecraft way" that blends digital literacy with hands-on crafting
- A team collaborator: Moving beyond independent work to thrive in environments where diverse minds come together on collaborative projects
- A continuous learner: Forever expanding my knowledge base, being that "malleable employee" who adapts to new technologies and approaches
- A digital community architect: Creating spaces (both online and in-person) where people can connect, learn, and share their creative coding journeys
- A bridge between tech and education: Developing STEM and Computer Science educational approaches that make these fields accessible and engaging for young minds
- A balanced creator: Maintaining personal creative outlets (like my neocities website and crochet projects) alongside professional growth
My journey is about transformation – taking my love for code, education, and community-building and weaving these threads into a cohesive professional identity that makes a meaningful impact while staying true to my playful, pattern-loving self.
Reflection
My hopes and dreams website represents the convergence of my passions for teaching, coding, and aesthetics.
I've always been drawn to creating immersive digital experiences that can educate and inspire others,
particularly children exploring the wonders of science. By building interactive websites and digital exhibits,
I hope to spark curiosity and make learning accessible and engaging.
The artistic side of my coding aspirations represents my belief that technology can be both functional and beautiful.
I dream of creating experiences that aren't just tools but works of art that move people emotionally.
This intersection of art and technology represents who I truly am - someone who values both logical thinking and creative expression.
The aesthetic lifestyle elements reflect my desire for a harmonious, intentional way of living where my physical
space and personal expression align with my inner values. This website itself, with its interactive elements and
dreamlike design, embodies these aspirations - teaching through code while creating something visually beautiful.
